The complete guide to gear/equipment and cards collections in Lost Ark!

Having already learned about Lost Ark level up and quests, this article will discuss the detailed guide of Gear/Equipment and cards collections in the Lost Ark game!

Lost Ark: Gear/Equipment Guide

During the level-up phase, it’s enough to equip your character with the highest Item Level gear you can obtain without worrying too much about specific bonuses and stats.

However, once you reach level 50, you’re going to unlock a series of activities where your Item Level and the quality of your gear are relevant.

Initially, you have two options:

  • Take part in Chaos Dungeon’s first level and farm a full set of ilvl 302 gear;
  • Continue your World quest until Shushire and claim a full set of ilvl 302 gear once you finish that quest line (recommended).

In both cases, you’ll finally own your first Tier 1 set.

In Lost Ark, the equipment is divided into 3 Tier, and each class has a starter rare (blue) set from which players can begin grinding. This set has no specific bonus but gives Item Level and better stats. Every piece of the gear can be enhanced and upgraded until level 20-25, but it’s recommended to reach lvl +15 (IL600) and then move to the upper Tier (Tier 2).

To upgrade your gear’s Item Level, it’s enough to interact with the [Gear Honing] NPC, represented on the map of any main city with a hammer.

Each piece of gear must be upgraded before going through the honing process.

To upgrade an item, you can select it and click on “Upgrade”; this action will cost you Shards and Lost Ark Silvers/Gold. The shards are different for each Tier:

Tier 1Harmony Shard
Tier 2Life Shard
Tier 3Honor Shard

Once your item has been 100% upgraded, you can proceed with honing. During this phase, all of your gear upgrades will consume different materials based on the Tier of your gear.

Note: all crystals can be easily obtained by running Chaos Dungeons, Una’s Daily quests, Una’s Weekly quests, Secondary quests, Cube, Towers, etc.

The following table shows us which materials are required for each Tier:

Tier 1Guardian Stone Fragment/Destruction Stone FragmentHarmony Leapstone
Tier 2Guardian Stone/Destruction Stone Life Leapstone

Caldarr Fusion Material
Tier 3Big Armor/Weapon Crystals Honor LeapstoneFusion Stone

We’ll also have some percentage of success on each piece that can be improved via amplifiers farmed through Guardian Raid, Cube, Ghostship, Chaos Dungeon boss room, and other dungeons.

In this case, as well, each Tier has its amplifier:

  • Tier 1: Star’s Breath
  • Tier 2: Moon’s Breath
  • Tier 3: Solar Protection

If your upgrade fails, the resources used during this phase won’t be returned to you, but your item will not break.

To compensate for the failures, it is available in Lost Ark a “pity system” called “Artisan’s Energy.” When your upgrade is not successful, the percentage of Artisan’s Energy increases progressively until it reaches a maximum that can give you a 100% guaranteed upgrade. Once the guaranteed upgrade has occurred, the level of Artisan’s Energy will be reset for the next upgrades.
Note: each piece of your gear has its percentage, and the reset happens only for that specific item.

Other than the starter rare set (blue, IL 302), each Tier also has special sets that provide a bonus and buff to your character. These sets can be epic (purple) or legendary (orange) and can be acquired by running Abyss Dungeon.

Once you unlock the first Abyss Dungeon [Demon Beast Canyon – IL 340], you gather the necessary currency for these sets, which you can exchange for the [Craft Abyss Equipment] NPC of every main city, indicated on the map by this icon.

All the new items have an Item Level of 302, so it will be necessary to recycle the level of your actual rare gear into the new set.

You can go to the “Gear Transfer” tab of any [Gear Honing] NPC.

You can put the new piece on the right slot, while on the right one, you can select the rare upgraded gear you’ve been using until that moment. Recycling each piece will cost you, Silver.

After completing the recycling, you can proceed with the upgrades until you can obtain from Abyss Dungeons the fragments for legendary items.

Make sure to transfer all levels from epic gear into the legendary one and keep upgrading them until level +15 (IL 600).

Once you’ve reached this point, you can go to Yorn, run the whole main story to unlock the region’s Chaos Dungeons, and obtain the new rare (blue) gear set with Item Level 802.

Repeat the upgrade process from rare to epic/legendary until level +15, which allows you to reach Item Level 1100.

You can unlock Tier 3 and farm the new equipment from this moment.

Lost Ark: Cards Collections Guide

Initially born as a mini-game and later on transformed into a collectible, card collection nowadays provides minor bonuses to stats or additional effects on your characters.

Such cards can be acquired in different ways, and, as for many other features in Lost Ark, they’re server-wide, which means that all cards accepted with your multiple alts will be part of the same collection.

To activate the bonuses on a character, players will need to equip their cards in a private deck that has a minimum of two cards and a maximum of six. Those six cards do not necessarily need to belong to the same set but can also be mixed.

In the example below, I combined four from the same set, two from another:

As you can see, while the first set allows me to receive a 5% x2 elemental magic resistance, the second one provides a reduction of damage equal to 8% when the character has less than 50% HP.

The cards you acquire during your gameplay can be added to your collection only one time, which means that every duplicate will enter a pool of cards that can be used for further enhancement. You can see the number of copies right on your “Workshop”.

These cards can awaken cards to increase their level and make them more powerful.

You can upgrade a card by opening your “Workshop,” selecting a card, and feeding it the XP and the duplicate cards. The awakening process also cost Silver.

A card can possess a maximum of 5 awakenings, and its level is marked with little hexagons right below the card image.

There are sets of cards that are more useful and more used than others. Some good examples are:
We’ll Meet Once more – After you take a hit when your wellness is beneath 50%, you’re well being is rapidly restored for 15s (10min cooldown);

Forest of Giants: The effect of recovery items is increased by 15%, and Physical/Magical Defense gets +20%.
